Scientific Calculator

A free online calculator with two modes. Use standard mode for everyday arithmetic, or switch to scientific mode for trigonometry, logarithms, powers, roots, factorials and the constants pi and e. It follows the correct order of operations and shows a live result as you type. You can also use your keyboard.

How it works

The calculator evaluates a full expression using standard mathematical precedence: parentheses first, then exponents, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Functions such as sin, cos, tan, ln, log and square root apply to the value in the brackets that follow them. In scientific mode you can choose whether angles are read in degrees or radians.

Frequently asked questions

How do I switch to scientific mode?
Use the Standard and Scientific toggle at the top of the calculator. Scientific mode adds trigonometry, logarithm, power, root and factorial buttons.
Does it work with my keyboard?
Yes. You can type numbers and operators, press Enter to calculate, Backspace to delete and Escape to clear.
Are angles in degrees or radians?
You choose. In scientific mode there is a Deg and Rad toggle that controls how the trigonometry functions read angles.
