How much paint do I need for a room?
Calculate total wall area (perimeter × height, minus openings), multiply by the number of coats, then divide by the coverage rate (typically 10–12 m² per liter, or 350–400 sq ft per US gallon). A 40 m² wall area with 2 coats needs about 7–8 liters.
How many coats of paint do I need?
Two coats is standard for a color change or full coverage; one coat may suffice for a same-color touch-up, while a dramatic color change (dark to light) sometimes needs three, or a tinted primer first.
Does paint coverage vary by paint type?
Yes — flat/matte paints often cover slightly more area per liter than glossy or textured paints, and coverage drops on rough or porous surfaces (like new drywall or masonry) that absorb more paint.
