Frequently Asked Questions

How much will my PPF be worth?
PPF compounds annually and is tax-free. Investing ₹1,50,000 a year for 15 years at 7.1% grows to about ₹40,68,000 — roughly ₹18 lakh of that is interest, entirely tax-exempt under current rules.
What is the current PPF interest rate?
The government sets the PPF rate every quarter (7.1% in recent periods). It has ranged from about 7% to 8% in recent years — enter the current rate for an accurate projection.
Can I withdraw PPF before 15 years?
Partial withdrawals are allowed from year 7, and loans from year 3. The full account matures in 15 years and can then be extended in 5-year blocks. The maximum yearly deposit is ₹1.5 lakh.
