Method: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)², using the standard WHO adult classification: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 healthy, 25–29.9 overweight, 30+ obese.
How it works
BMI is calculated as:
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)2
For imperial units: BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height (in)2. The standard adult categories are: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 normal weight, 25 to 29.9 overweight, and 30 or above obese.
