Frequently Asked Questions
What is CIDR?
CIDR is the /prefix notation, like /24. It says how many leading bits are the network, so /24 is a 255.255.255.0 mask.
Why are usable hosts two fewer?
The network address and the broadcast address cannot be assigned to devices, so usable hosts is the total minus two.
