How it works
Decimal = numerator ÷ denominatorFrequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a fraction to a decimal?
Divide the top by the bottom: 3/8 = 0.375, 2/3 = 0.6667 (repeating). That's all a fraction means — a division waiting to happen.
Which fractions give repeating decimals?
A fraction terminates only if its denominator (in lowest terms) has no prime factors other than 2 and 5. So 3/8 terminates (8 = 2³) but 1/3 and 1/7 repeat forever.
How do I convert a fraction to a percentage?
Convert to a decimal, then multiply by 100: 3/8 = 0.375 = 37.5%. The calculator shows all three forms at once.
