How do I calculate density?
Divide mass by volume: 156 g occupying 20 cm³ is 7.8 g/cm³ — the density of steel. Compare to water's 1 g/cm³: anything denser sinks.
What are common densities?
Water 1.0, ice 0.92 (why it floats), aluminium 2.7, steel ~7.8, copper 8.96, lead 11.3, gold 19.3 g/cm³. A density near 19.3 is one classic check on gold jewellery.
How do g/cm³ relate to kg/m³?
