How do I calculate baseboard needed?
Add up the room's wall lengths for the perimeter, subtract door openings, and add about 10% for corner miter cuts and mistakes: a 12 × 14 ft room with two 3-ft doorways needs roughly 51 linear feet.
How much waste should I allow for trim?
10% covers most rooms; add 15% for rooms with many corners or if you're new to mitering. Long single walls waste less; lots of short walls and corners waste more.
How many boards is that?
Divide the linear feet by your board length (8 ft is common) and round up — the calculator shows the count so you know how many pieces to buy.
